    student enrollment/registration

If you are new to Bret Harte (ie, an incoming freshman or a transfer student), you MUST complete the required, online student enrollment/registration. This process provides the District with student information, emergency contacts, academic and/or health concerns, as well as completing internet agreements. The two-part process generates the ability to create a Parent Portal account for the parent/guardian and the District receives all necessary information to enroll your student.

    Inclement Weather Bell Schedule

In the event of adverse weather conditions, a late start is possible. The decision is made between the joined efforts of Transportation and CHP.  If the weather conditions warrant a late start, you will receive a voice dialer and text message, based on the student’s communication preferences, indicating a late start. An additional resource regarding late starts are the following local radio stations: KVML’s 1450 AM, 93.5 FM KKBN, and 102.7 FM KZSQ and During inclement weather all students waiting at bus stops will be given a ride to school whether or not they have a bus pass.

    Our School

Bret Harte Union High School District provides a safe school environment that allows all students equal access and opportunities in the district's academic and other educational support programs, services, and activities. The campus is one of two schools in the District: Bret Harte Union High School, a traditional comprehensive and independent study high school and Vallecito High School, a continuation high school. Bret Harte Union High School operates on a traditional-year schedule composed of four quarters and currently operates on a modified block schedule.

Bret Harte Union High School firmly believes that there must be involvement between the school, the district staff, parents, and community members. Only by working together can a strong educational program be created which enables students to look forward to the challenge of the future.  Students must be prepared intellectually technically, and socially for the world of work, advanced vocational training, and/or higher education.
